Why you Should Eat 2 Kiwi Fruit as Soon as you Have Given Birth!

Why you Should Eat 2 Kiwi Fruit as Soon as you Have Given Birth! Every woman is nervous about her first POO after giving birth! Whether you have had a Caesarean or a Natural Birth, you will no doubt be dreading the first time you have to try and do a number two. The softer the stool (poo), the easier it will be to get out and the less strain it will put on your abdominal muscles and perineum (area between vagina and anus). Kiwi fruit are a natural and mild laxative and eating a couple after you have given […]

A “Natural” Caesarean Section – should they all be like this?

A “Natural” Caesarean Section? By Roger Marwood MSc FRCOG A “natural” Caesarean Section? “No such thing”, I hear you saying.  And , of course you are right as a Caesarean can never be fully natural.  But there are ways that the process can be made to feel less like a major operation in an unnatural and clinical environment and more like an exceptionally moving, astonishing and , dare I say it, enjoyable and unique family event. For the last few years of my clinical practice , I was lucky enough to be able to achieve, wherever possible, a very satisfying […]

31 Weeks and baby in posterior position. Can I do anything to encourage her to move?

I am 31 weeks pregnant and my baby is in a posterior position. Is there anything I can do to encourage her to spin? If she remains OP will I be able to have a natural birth or is a C section more likely / advisable? Your chances of a natural both are excellent. The position of the baby now is almost random and has no relevance at all to what may happen in 9 weeks time. Behave normally ! Good luck

Will my second labour be easier?

I delivered a healthy baby boy at in Sept 2011 at 38 weeks via a C-section (due to failure to progress). I am now pregnant again due to deliver end of October. I understand every pregnancy & Labour is different, however I’ve heard that labour with second baby is always easier, is this a myth? Also because I had a C-section last time does it mean my chances of having a natural birth are slim?   The most common reason for failure to progress in the first labour is due to an unfavourable position of the baby combined with […]

Astigmatism – can I give birth naturally?

My left eyesight is quite bad, I think I have 4.5 diopter on my left eye and astigmatism. I heard this means I would not be able to give birth naturally as it is too much pressure. Is this true and if yes, what would I need to do for NHS to accept that? On the information you have given there appears to be no reason why you should not be able to have a normally managed labour and delivery Astigmatism is not in my experience an indication for avoiding labour or pushing Unless your Opthalmologist has advised against it […]

Elective C Section – Can I make it feel natural?

I am having an elective C section with my baby due in May.  My daughter was born by crash section under general anaesthetic so am a bit nervous.  How can I make the C section as natural as possible?  Can I ask for the screen to be dropped so we see the baby straight away?  And what about skin to skin straight after birth, is that possible? Iit should be a much better experience this time, and it is highly likely that this will be a nice calm and more relaxed experience. You should have an opportunity to discuss this […]
